Over the weekend

On Friday evening, after welcoming the participants, Vittorio will present highlights of the work that the group will perform on Saturday and Sunday. He will explain why he believes that longevity can not be achieved just through scientific knowledge, because science, as it is applied in the present day, follows a highly analytical approach; it is often in search of “miraculous” remedies; it is dependent on economic interests and power groups.

Modern life tends to be unbalanced and is often at odds with the natural needs of the body. Every time that its needs are neglected, the body sends unmistakable signals. Life can be a process of continuous transformation instead of a decline, because we all have the full potential of unlimited growth. We can think of the Art of Longevity as a consciously achievable target, and put more emphasis on the creative, personally and socially engaging aspects of our search.

Vittorio will share his own experience of some human cultures, which could soon be extinct, who have actually realized the goal of a long and peaceful life, without depending on advanced technology and large capital investments, but just on the basis of wisdom principles that have passed on through many generations.

So, the path to a healthy and happy life is not an inaccessible secret and it is based on several simple and essential factors, most importantly including:

  • Appropriate physical activity
  • Correct breathing
  • Healthy and revitalizing nutrition, based on principles that have been applied for thousands of years by great civilizations
  • A balanced and flexible mental and emotional mindset, which can deal with the constantly changing environment we live in.

On Saturday morning we will begin the fascinating experience of how our bodies work by performing Hatha Yoga and Dynamic-Yoga exercises. We will begin putting into practice the essential aspects that enable us to achieve a correct and balanced lifestyle. Yoga does not mean renouncing the world; we can enjoy Yoga with awareness, therefore paying homage to its Creator.

Physically, Yoga improves the functions of internal organs, helps to correct spine and pelvis deviations, activates the endocrine and nervous systems. During these two days we will explore the different aspects of OKI-DO Yoga — Dynamic Yoga — including: asanas, purification exercises, corrective exercises, specific practices to balance and strengthen internal organs according to the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Handouts will facilitate memorizing some important exercises.

Before lunch, participants will start practical learning of how to get the most out of their daily diet while meeting their own personal needs and social issues. Expert chefs will guide the group through the final stages of meal preparation, and will give valuable information about carrying on such practice once back home (recipes, recommended books, personal tips).

In the afternoon we will resume work on the body, which will include exercises in pairs and in groups. We will conclude with relaxation and meditation practice.

Saturday evening, after dinner, will be available to get together, listen to the music, sing, dance, share, etc..

Sunday, starting with morning exercises, we will continue deepening the psycho-physical aspects of self-care.

In the afternoon we will focus on the most effective way to clarify and then achieve one's goals. This is asserting that we have the necessary but often under-utilized resources to free the magic that is within ourselves.

Near the end of the seminar, we will summarize the main learnings and answer the participants' remaining questions. We will strengthen our commitment to continue leading a healthy and conscious life as a goal which arises from one's awareness. Contacts between participants will be facilitated, so that everyone can feel part of a community where one can give and receive support.
